How He Started.
Where He Goes From Here.
In 2020, a well-timed industry how-to manual "Being Black or Brown in the Green Rush" serves as the catalyst to draw attention to the social and economic injustices created or exposed by America’s shifting cannabis laws. Yuri has made balancing the scales of cannabis opportunity a cornerstone of his work moving forward.
As Senior Strategist at Angel Shark, a cannabis consultancy, Yuri’s professional work draws on his ongoing experience at the leading edge of America’s legal cannabis industry, advising investors and operators on strategies for success and risk mitigation.
Yuri’s team of multidisciplinary experts at Angel Shark blend the wisdom that comes only from both successes and failures in the cannabis sector. Angel Shark’s extensive expertise ranges from Enterprise and Deal Structuring to Mergers and Acquisitions, Distressed Asset Recovery, License Transfers, Receivership, to more traditional Market and Policy Analysis. Angel Shark is built on a foundation of collaboration with industry regulators seeking the elevated outcomes of a stronger safer cannabis marketplace.
Yuri is a proud donor to the fight against brain cancer, co-founded an emergency housing program for victims of domestic violence, and is funding the development of cannabis-based treatment protocols for opioid reduction and addiction treatment.
Yuri was awarded a B.S. from the University of Arizona and a J.D . from the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. He splits his time between projects in Arizona, Nevada, and Mexico.
Being Black or Brown in the Green Rush.
Social injustice and economic inequity have become consistent defining characteristics in the marijuana legalization programs established from coast to coast.
But even with the silhouette of racism and economic disadvantage darkening your prospects, there are still many opportunities to find your path to success and profit in the Green Rush.
“The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.”
- Arthur C. Clarke
Bloom Dispensaries
Yuri co-founded Bloom Dispensaries with cannabis industry rockstar Matt Morgan. Bloom’s flagship store, adjacent Sky Harbor Airport, holds historical significance for many cannabis firsts. First licensed dispensary in Phoenix, first to serve 500 patients in one day, first to sell an ounce for under $200, to name but a few. Under Yuri’s watch, Bloom grew to 4 Arizona dispensaries, several highly successful product lines, and a supply chain commencing at a 65,000 square foot cultivation facility.
Angel Shark
Angel Shark is an innovative marijuana sector consultancy focused on investments, litigation strategies, business transformation, as well as public policy and social injustice.
The unique nature and status of marijuana law, both at the federal level and the incongruity that exists from state to state, create both challenges and opportunities for the marijuana investor and operator. Angel Shark maps out those uncertain paths and builds a plan to achieve success and mitigate risk.
AOW MAnagement
As Arizona’s nascent marijuana market found its footing, AOW Management pioneered the path for outsourced dispensary and cultivation management. Structuring contracts and entity relationships that were not only compliant with state law, but designed to mitigate tax obligations and create trusted banking relationships, AOW brought traditional business practices to legacy marijuana business operations.
Modern Flower
Modern Flower is just one of the dozens of projects and intellectual properties that Yuri is proud to have had a hand in creating.
Shortly before Harvest Health and Recreation went public, the company acquired a number of assets, including the Modern Flower brand. Making Modern Flower perhaps the best brand that never was.
